Garage Sale FIND!! Vintage Quilt Pieces!!!!
WARNING, this will only excite my quilter friends out there, sorry duck lovers, but I have to show off my found treasure from Saturday’s garage sale-ing. Yes, I know it’s not a real word , sale-ing, but it’s what I say so I gotta use it! And when I say vintage, it scares me a little because I was in this world back then. Vintage is good, right?
One lesson I learned a long time ago is to always look in nondescript bags at garage sales! Inside might be some of the best stuff you’ve ever seen. My find was in a small, white, ugly bag with a .50 sticker on it!!! Gotta look in that one….
This is the beginning. At least 12 FINISHED blocks, yellow and white, all handstitched. I’m a hand stitching fiend, so this is good!!!
And lots of partial blocks and pieces AND at least 2 yards of the yellow fabric.
I found the bright block in a sealed bag. Guess it makes a difference to seal your work!
The best piece of this puzzle was finding this on the backside of some notes the quilter had made about the pattern…
But for me, this was the GOLD….
Because I’m so addicted to hexagons right now and can’t stop. This only added to the problem!!
Can you believe it?? (only fellow quilters can answer this question!)

I enjoyed the treasure for awhile and then made myself put it all aside for later. I’ve got a daughter’s wedding next week so I can’t EVEN be tempted!! BTW, I’ll have a giveaway coming up.
I think I’ll share something from this fabulous stash

Yes, I am a fellow quilter and no, I can’t beleive it. Guess it does make a difference to seal your work! Did she seriously add each strip by hand? Arrg.

Very pretty quilt blocks! I especially like the hexagon with the fussy-cut pink and white flowers. Very fun!

Yes, the ‘fussy-cut’…..is it the pattern that has twin on the upper page?
Great pieces…..hope you show it after you get them all….in their individual quilts!……after the wedding. :O

I’m not a quilter, but I am a garage sale junkie, so I get the thrill of this find! Good treasure hunting, Kelly!

Great finds at a yard sale!! Oh my those hexagons,, be still my heart…
The last wedding I went to was not fancy by any means, it was at the court house,, my third daughter out of five daughters, got married by the Justice of the Peace…. great vows.
So my suggestion would be for your daughters wedding is for her and her fiance start working on their vows,, less thing you have to do…
Please keep us posted on how your wedding plans are coming along..
Take care,

Great finds! How ironic that such incredible hand stitching would be valued by someone at $.50!
I went to a huge outdoor sale in MA last weekend and there wasn’t a single treasure like you found. Maybe I should have looked for ugly white bags.
A find like this can make garage sale junkies out of all of us!

What a treasure! I love the shopping list — it’s such an interesting assortment of stuff.

Love the quilt squares. As the child of an avid quilter I can understand the thrill–especially with the hexagonal pieces. My great grandmother made a beautiful hexagonal quilt that is so precious to my folks that it isn’t being used.

What a lucky find! I found a partially-finished top a year or two ago - $15, almost twin size. I’ve been looking for old blouses and shirts to find enough old fabric to finish it… I love hearing of good luck - I hope it rubs off on me!
