Everything is small too, therefore, I feed it to the ducks.  At least they are dining well!

Lots of blossoms, but barely any squash.

I’ve got a teeny tiny watermelon that doesn’t seem to want to grow up.  He’s been this way for a few days!

Green tomatoes that don’t want to get red.  Even my Big Boy’s are not very big.

But my salvation is the cucumbers.  I’m starting to see cucs with those blossoms.  There is hope!

But the most fun for me while I garden is watching the waiting girls.  They sit, they watch, they wait, for any fresh morsel I will throw over the fence.

This is what I pulled out of the bag……

It looks as if someone started on the border and then started to work inward.  It has all been hand stitched….

But has all these dangling strips ready to be stitched. 

 I really don’t even know where to start or how to begin to finish this puzzle of a quilt!

I assume this is the middle because there are pre-cut squares in these colors all in the same bag.

There are lots and lots of squares just ready to finish this whole thing.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do first??  HELP!

My wonderful hubby suggested I sort them into bags of color, therefore, the lovely horseshoe I’ve created while sorting the last couple of evenings.

Lots and lots of pre-cut 4 and 5 inch squares!!

And mounds of expensive and great designer fabrics!! 

You can see how much Kacey helped me with this chore!  But the best part about all of this treasure for me, is that it inspired me to dig out the string quilt I started months ago.  One of only 1,345,789 projects that are left, waiting to be finished in my closets!

OK, gotta go keep pluggin’ along!  The goal is KING SIZE!!

And my brother and my hubby, who are out there in the heat and wind of Kansas, cutting wheat and…….checking weather on their cell phones!  WAIT!  What’s wrong with this picture?  Maybe I’m just not used to these high tech farmers with their fancy gadgets.  When I was a little girl we had the luxury of two way radios and THAT was cool!

PS!!!!  Here’s how we ended the day.  Couldn’t resist showing you this one…….

After just a couple months of planting these last year, they doubled in size.  And this year they came back in full force and loaded with currants, red and black.  Might I add that each bush was a whopping $12 each!  That’s more like my kinda price.

The currants started to ripen last week and man are they beautiful!

The first batch was small, but I smashed them with my grandma’s old berry masher…..

And then I froze the juice from that batch that I’ll add to this week.  I found a great jelly combination last year…..mulberry and currant berry jelly!  Both ripen at the same time.  They are tedious to pick because of their small size, but so worth it in the end!

I’ll end with what I saw while smashing berries.  The “girls” always give me a smile no matter what they are doing.  I added a new drinking tub to the yard.  Guess it’s a “bath” tub now!

They spend most days and nights on the search for bugs.  Easy entertainment!

And this week I finally pulled up my spring leftover spinach and lettuce.  They come a runnin’ when they see the green stuff hit the ground!

Speaking of my garden, I just counted 40 tomato plants today.  THAT, could become insane in just a couple of months.  I’ll let you know soon enough!

 My daughter and fiance had stopped at Ivers in Seattle after flying back from the wedding.  And she thought she had gotten away from all the crazy ducks!

MARRIED!!  More to post later, but first I need to tend to my ducks, my garden, and life in general!

One lesson I learned a long time ago is to always look in nondescript bags at garage sales!  Inside might be some of the best stuff you’ve ever seen.  My find was in a small, white, ugly bag with a .50 sticker on it!!!  Gotta look in that one….

This is the beginning.  At least 12 FINISHED blocks, yellow and white, all handstitched.  I’m a hand stitching fiend, so this is good!!!

And lots of partial blocks and pieces AND at least 2 yards of the yellow fabric.

I found the bright block in a sealed bag.  Guess it makes a difference to seal your work!

The best piece of this puzzle was finding this on the backside of some notes the quilter had made about the pattern…

But for me, this was the GOLD….

Because I’m so addicted to hexagons right now and can’t stop.  This only added to the problem!!

Can you believe it?? (only fellow quilters can answer this question!)

I enjoyed the treasure for awhile and then made myself put it all aside for later.  I’ve got a daughter’s wedding next week so I can’t EVEN be tempted!!  BTW, I’ll have a giveaway coming up.
