I have a nagging morning ritual. I first must open the bedroom blinds to do the morning duck head count. I can usually see them all hoovering the yard. If there are only two, then the straggler is usually sitting on her usual nest. WELL, this morning there was no sign of number three. AND, when I looked out, there was a cat roaming in the back of the yard. This makes me nervous!!

I raced out barefooted (which is not a good idea in my poopy yard) and chased the cat away. The other two girls were standing perfectly still with extended necks looking toward the corner of the yard. There sat HOOVER GIRL #3, sitting atop my garden table, laying an egg!

My ducks can’t fly either, but they can flap a lot and jump surprisingly high.

I’ve been sick AND had babies! No, I’m way beyond those type of babies,I had baby ducks of course. But I missed reading your blog! I finally got a mintue & came right here to try to catch up. I love the duck stories & I laughed at them sitting in the snow. My S. FL. ducks don’t have that problem. But when it pours the rain, they stand out in in when they have a shelter with a tarp over it just for that time! I guess they’re all alike! LOL I was drawn to your blog because you had ducks & now I actually see you do crafts. My 85 yr. old Mom (& Dad) are coming to live with me & she’ll love reading about your quilting & things! Oh boy, when I type it out loud (??) I realize my parents are coming to live with me!!! Oh boy, will someone pass me a beer…….or two…….see you soon!
