A few weeks ago we spent maybe our last official “spring break” with our girls and their boys.  We drove to Texas and our oldest and fiance, flew in from Washington state.  The baby……..

is in grad school and will graduate this summer.  Since she is so busy, we all invaded her home for the week.  She and her fiance have a new huskie puppy, Charlee…..

The baby (she really isn’t any more, but was last out of my body, so she will always be!) sure does love her puppy!!

Can you see that life is all about the puppy right now?

The baby did have another mission….to change her sista’s hair.  (This tends to be a touchy issue from big sisters past.  She was always VERY particular about who cut her hair and how they did it!)  The baby put her arm around her big sister and said, “Don’t worry, let me take care of everything!”  So the young one made an appointment and went for support.  Or I should say took the big sis so she wouldn’t back out!  Here’s big sister BEFORE……

This is what we woke up to Saturday morning.  Just the day before I worked for hours in my garden, turning over dirt and treating the girls to these lovelies…..

worms

Sorry if you’re squeamish and don’t like worms.  I’m a worm lover.  Maybe because I like to fish.  The girls like worms too, but I kinda hate giving them all up since the garden likes them too.  I’m beginning to find it a bit difficult to work with ducks in the garden.  I’ll be fencing them out soon enough!

I’m glad they filled their bellies on Friday since our weekend became this crazy 10″ snow.

What I will never understand with these silly ducks is why do they go away from all shelter when the weather is at it’s worst??  I’ve created the perfect home environment for them.  Heat lamp, heated bucket and food in their cozy, comfy duck house.  But here they are, middle of the yard!  Raging, blowing snow!!  What’s that all about?

Seems every time I check one of my favorite quilting blogs, Film in the Fridge , I get hooked on her quilt of the week and then I must make it!  Last week she was making these awesome hexagons.  I’m all about hand sewing (cuz you gotta have something to do while you watch KU basketball!).  She has a great tutorial on how to make them so I won’t even try.  I’m too busy attempting to make enough for a small quilt.

I’ll have a duck update soon.  Finally getting lotsa eggs.  They are loving the spring weather.  But alas, as always in Kansas, I hear we have snow coming on Saturday!!  Drats!!

Finally, the snow is all melted and the temps are rising! The ducks are getting back in the water again, but into the small water tub I have for them and NOT their wading pool.  Don’t you think this would make for some nasty drinking water?  Why don’t they care??

Pretty soon I’m gonna need to clean the poop off the patio and get them focused on the back of the yard.  I also got my first egg again since November, woo hoo!!
